George Burley praised his team after the 1-0 win against Fulham at Portman Road yesterday evening. The Town boss said he had aimed to close down Jean Tigana's side as quickly as he could.

A 10th minute goal from Marcus Bent won Town another three points and took them out of the bottom three. Fulham had a late flurry but created little in the way of clearcut chances in an attacking game played in soaking wet conditions, much like the match earlier in the season at Craven Cottage.

Town boss George Burley sees Saturday's visit to Derby as even more important than last year's. On the final day of last season Town visited Pride Park as they challenged in vain for a Champions' League place. This year survival is the prize.
